United Reference Laboratory (URL) is no new name to health service provider in Pokhara. URL has given a significant contribution in health sector of city. URL is providing more than 400 types of blood test including thyroid, sugar, cancer with help of highly sophisticated modern machines and advanced laboratory. After providing 42 free blood test camp, URL is set for the 43rd free blood test camp on Saturday. In the same context, we present this interview with Mr. Thakur Prasant Panta, Managing Director of URL by Pokhara Daily (Pokhara News) :
– 43rd camp is being organised on Saturday, before this how many client have you served in 42 series of free camp?
This is our 43rd free blood test camp that we are organizing at Prithvi Chowk on Saturday. Prior to this we have provided free sugar and related diseases check up service to more than 25000 people. Along with sugar we are providing a free check up to one additional disease every time we organised a camp. Till now we have provided free check up for disease related to liver, uric acid, gout. This is the first time we are providing free blood test camp related to thyroid disease. We are also conducting various awareness raising program related to sugar and other diseases.
– What is the main objective of camp?
This is a part of our social responsibility. Also we are conducting these free blood test camps to promote healthy living than visit hospitals after suffering. Similarly providing information to those whom are already suffering from such diseases is our other objective.
– What are the services URL is providing?
To control diseases in time that could turn terrible is our main service. To identify nature and stage of disease by blood test, to provide information on healthy life by preventing from these diseases and control such diseases to promote life standard of public is our main focus.
– Why health clients should visit URL in particular?
URL is one of the few health labs in whole Nepal that provide various kinds blood tests. We provide blood and urine test related to different diseases. Various tests that weren’t possible in Nepal previously are provided by URL. We are providing blood test like NT- proBNP for heart failure diagnosis, NT- TSHR test for thyroid on pregnant women, HE4 diagnostic test for ovarian cancer in women and Cyfra 21 test for lung cancer.
– What type of Lab equipment are used in URL?
We are utilizing our highly qualified manpower, modern technologies and machines to test blood and provide service to public. URL has best lab machines in the world manufactured by ROZ lab Inc. These machines are entitled as number 1 lab machines since 2007 to till date. The results provided by these machines are highly accurate and reliable. We are providing lab and technical resources which are found big hospitals and laboratories of world.
– How many types of blood tests are provided by URL at present?
We are providing more than 400 blood tests including simple to highly complex blood test. We have latest technologies and new machines as per the request of doctors. We aim to facilitate test of normal to complex diseases and self suffice entire province 4 in terms of disease diagnosis.
– Is whole body check up necessary to every individual?
It is necessary. Whole body check up is necessary for three purpose. Firstly to whose who are medicating after diagnosed with different disease to identify the progress of medication. Whole body check up is essential to them to know about progressive report. Secondly to identify any additional disease along with the main disease diagnosed. Finally to find out the condition of our regularly functioning organs like heart, lungs, liver, kidneys, whole body check up is necessary.
– In recent time, what is the condition of our medical field and public’s accessibility to it?
In later time, big hospitals with advanced modern facilities are being operated in major cities. Those who have access to these have certainly taken benefit from them but those who don’t have access are still far from taking any benefit. Similarly the huge mass of people residing in remote area have barely get a chance to experience these services. There is a need to establish infrastructures like modern hospitals and laboratories with specialized doctors and skilled manpower in such areas.
